​Hi, I’m Milly, and I started this online shop specializing in jadeite. Everything here is handpicked and curated by me, with love. All that you see is natural authentic grade A jadeite sourced in Taiwan. Some of the pieces are vintage, and some are sourced from markets and individuals. I am Taiwanese-American, born & raised in California, but I lived in the south of Taiwan for 2 years post-college. During that time, I found my love of jade -- which first originated from admiring my mom's collection -- grew as I lived abroad. I had the idea to bring some of the unique pieces I found back home to the U.S. and share its beauty and divinity with wider audiences.

THE POWER OF JADE: ARTI(FACT) OR FICTION?​

There is an old Chinese proverb that "gold has a price, but jade is priceless.” In Chinese culture and many Asian cultures, jadeite is extremely precious, increasingly rare, and can sell for tens of thousands of dollars in high-end jewelry stores. Even just a sliver of green can affect a piece's price exponentially. Jade comes in two categories: nephrite and jadeite. Jadeite is a specific type of jade found in Burma and Guatemala, known for its glossiness and clarity. In contrast, nephrite is more commonly found and waxy in appearance; jadeite is glassy, usually has more visible mineral depth, and is typically more valuable. No piece is like the other.

There’s also a misconception that jade only comes in an electric shade of green — you can actually find jadeite in shades of green, blue, purple, yellow, red… the depth and vibrance of the hue affects the value. Furthermore, colors correspond with different meanings and may serve different uses in a wearer's life (ie. improving relationships, promoting inner peace, etc.). Grade A, or natural jadeite, is ideal for wearers as artificially colored, mass-produced jade cannot offer the benefits and healing properties of natural jadeite.

A HISTORICAL, CULTURAL, AND SPIRITUAL STONE

Chinese families view jadeite as an investment and treat them as family heirlooms, often passed down from generation to generation. I myself have worn pieces passed down to me from my grandparents. Outside of its cultural significance, Chinese people also attribute spiritual and protective qualities to this stone. Jadeite is said to bring the wearer health and peace (保平安), as well as attract good fortune. According to Chinese culture, jade has the power to ward off negative spirits and attract luck. You can wear jadeite for a lifetime — it‘s a living stone, so it enhances the wearer’s electromagnetic field; over time you may notice your jadeite becoming richer in its green tone, becoming glossier, or observe mineral imperfections dissolving, as it evolves with you. It is said that jade will become more beautiful over time when the wearer is in good health. It is also said that wearing jade over long periods of time is good for your health! There are also many stories of jade bracelets “protecting” the wearer, ie. when the wearer takes a fall and sustains no injuries, and the bracelet breaks, it is said that the jade bracelet “took the injury” for the wearer. This is a divine stone with much deep cultural, historical, and spiritual superstition that surrounds it. It is a gift to the wearer and has historically been associated with people of high character. Furthermore, jade is a symbol of Eastern values upholding longevity + reverence over short-term ostentatiousness, as jade has historically been prized over even gold and diamonds.

I look at translucency, color, depth, artistry, and symbolism when curating these pieces. These factors also affect the price of each product. (See FAQ's) I started this shop with the hope that I can make authentic jadeite more accessible to wider audiences who are interested in it, or even just curious about it. Here, you can find curated pieces, handmade original pieces, and self-designed pieces. Because it is a natural stone, it can never be replicated! If you see something you like, be aware that you may not encounter anything like it again! I may never even encounter anything like it again, after parting ways.
